It idles and runs fine. I was just having trouble starting it in the cold. I know how to use a choke, i dont know how to use an e start. That being said i figured id double check to make sure there wasnt a trick or if it was as easy as it seemed. Thanks for the help, didnt take it out today tho. But she did get one hell of a wash tho.

ya know... i did A LOT of research on harleys before settling on one. and i must say that superglides are probably the most consistently higest rated harley out there. anyways... from the sound of it it DOES sound like its been sitting around too long. a agree with the above. pull the carb off and take a look around. besides... carbed harleys are known for being temperamental in the cold. thats why mine is fuel injected

I've had pretty damn good luck with my Keihin butterfly carb. Choke all the way out on cold starts, then part way out from warm up to a few miles down the road. Sometimes I to forget to push her back in but she let's me know eventually. We just got another 6 inches of snow and my bikes in the garage with the front wheel off for repairs so take a spin for me will ya?

Congrats on the 99 FXD, that'll be a fun bike to customize and make your own.

On the contrary, Punk. I'm not sensitive at all. I was just pointing out that inorder for a forum to be helpful we need to make new members feel welcome. To respond to the OP's first question with "buy a manual" seems counter productive.

Don't want to hijack this thread with bickering, so as Forrest says, "That's all I have to say about that".
