I LOVE my fathers '10 WG. That thing is sick. If I would have waited a few more months...I might have been on one myself, even though I love my bob.
I traded in my Ninja and haven't looked back. The bob was more money..but I can tell you, I've had more fun modding and riding it that it more than makes up for the increase in price.
tcabello, I know what you mean about the Sportster's performance. I pretty much walk all over my buddys Street Bob until about 80. Ive owned crotch rockets in the past so speed isnt a huge deal anymore. Well boys, I think Im sold on the WG!
You won't regret it at all. Especially since you're not in love with your Nightster. As far as the monthly payments go....comparing monthly payments with others doesn't make sense to me. What you should be more concerned about is the price of the bike and what your interest rate is going to be. Any salesmen can charge top dollar for a bike then add an extra 12 to 24 months on the loan to keep the payments low. But in no time you'll be upside down on the loan and you'll end up paying a lot more than you should in the long run.
When a salesman asks me what I want my monthly payments to be, I tell him that he should focus on the price of the bike and I'll worry about the monthly payments.
Buzz, your right, compairing payments doesnt matter, I was just curious what others are paying. My situation is strange anyway since I put zero down on the '09 and havent had it long enough to touch principal. But thats neither here nor there, if ya aint happy, it doesnt matter how cheap or affordable your payment is, low payments dont bring pleasure, nice bikes do. Plus to step up to a WG for less that $50 more a month seems like a no brainer! And Rockymtn, your probably right, actually might be tomorrow, Im gonna brave the cold tomorrow morning and ride the Nightster to work so I can take it in after and possibly ride the WG home!
I think you'll be very happy with the WG FIDDY. Good luck with it. You should bring a camera and take photos with both bikes at the dealership. Out with the old, in with the new. Don't forget to post them if you do.
I purchased a 2007 1200c used in august. Approx 2 -1/2 months later and about $1500.00 in upgrades i traded it in for a 2010 FXDWG. Now this is most likely the best move i made for my $$$. My sportster could not handle me and my soon to be wife. I am 5'11" about 195lbs (damn i got fat) she is 5'5" about 125lbs. All the sporty would do is bottom out on every tiny bump.I had forward controls on the sporty and i was still cramped. Now the wide glide can handle us with ease and comfort. I need a real sissy bar and a wider seat for the wife to make her happy. Now the FXDWG has forward controls and they are almost to far but not the remedy for me will be heel rests, and then it will be just fine. The difference is at 60 - 65mph the sporty would start shaking. the FXDWG just wants more. Hands down the best move i made.
I had a Sportster and went to a Dyna, there is no going back for me, you will love the extra room, smoother ride and ability to travel longer distances without feeling wooped. Sportsters are fun bikes but I feel my Dyna is more versatile.
What are you waiting for? If you don't really like the sportster now how much will you like it this summer. Motorcycles, and sportscars, make no economic sense anyway so why not be riding the Dyna if that's what you want?
