I used to have a Vespa 250 GTSie for this purpose and loved it but handling at speed and on the freeway rain grooves was testing.
Curious, what forum might that have been? I've been a member of a scooter forum, too. PM, if you don't feel like admitting it publicly.

I traded an '06 GTS for my '09 Super Glide. I've found the HD much more practical than the Vespa ever was. I've got saddlebags that can hold more than the pet carrier and topcase.

Get the Wide Glide. You'll be happy.

Buy a Harley with fuel injection, saddlebags, and a proximity key fob ... then move to a non-helmet state.

All you gots to do is straddle your bike, turn the igniton, hit the start button and ride away.

The hardest part is trying not to laugh when someone on a scooter waves at you.

I always wave at scooter riders as I do everyone else. Some of those bad boy scooters are 750 cc's and can haul *** down the road, good way to start riding for the uninitiated also.

Pykie, I have had many Harleys, RKC, Sportster, now on an Ultra and ride my wifes FXDC alot, the FXDC is good for 700 mile day trips no prob, also good for a quick run around town. I have to say the FXDC is as comfotable as my 07 RKC was. Go for the Dyna, when you get older like me get the Ultra to go along with it.

My go right now and get something bike is a Suzuki 650 V-Strom. It's been lowered an inch, has Givi bags, and Givi tour box. Plus it gets 55 to 60 mpg. If I just going into town for very little I will ride the Shovel. I'm making my Dyna into my touring bike.
But for you, it sounds like the Dyna is what you want. So get it.

My Street Bob is ridden more city than highway...it's very nimble (IMO) and is fine for just hopping on and riding on congested city streets, parking lots, etc.

I don't run errands to "pick up milk" on it cuz it has no bags for carrying anything, which is the setup I prefer...my "less is more" theory.

I always do a quick pre-ride check...turn signals working, brake light, headlight, look over the tires, etc. and go. I check the cold tire pressures every 3-4 days and check the oil level as well...

Dynas are great for city riding.
