Hey everyone...hope your weekend went good. Was riding this weekend and my 2004 WG started to wobble at 75 -80 mph. Also if I try and ride out of it by accelerating, I start getting a vibration at 85mph and gets REAL bad at 90MPH.t does it all the time now at those speeds. I have 16,000 miles on it have have owned it since new. This is weird, due to it just started happening. I am sure that this has been covered before, but the search pulled up nothing.
My guess would be something from the tires. What exactly is wobbling? Is it the whole bike or is it increased feedback through the handlebars? I would assume with that many miles that you have recently had your rear tire replaced possibly the front as well. When tires are slightly out of whack, they don't always cause a problem at lower speeds. I would check the alignment of the tires and maybe see if they need balancing. It's really hard to say, and I am just assuming this is where the problem stems from.
Besides, what are you doing going that fast anyway, does your mother know about this? [sm=nono.gif]
Have newer tires ( 3000 miles ago ).....The wobble started fairly quick. Noticed it last weekend for the 1st time and this week it got worse. When I let off the throttle when it happens, it come through the bars badly. Same with the vibration.
I have never had this problem on a Harley but I did have similiar problems on a BMW. It ended up being the steering head Bearings.
Make sure the steering head bearings are torqued down correctly. It also could be wheel balancing or your spokes need re tightened. Get this fixed before you get killed. The wobbling can get much worse. Good luck......CJ
Its a long shot but if you have saddlebags, try emptying them. I was getting a wobble and it was too much weight in one side of my big bags. Also, check your wheels for a bad spot in the tread, correction inflation and alignment and your wheel bearings for any slop and your axle nuts for correct torque.
