I just read a thread about someone having a BLOW OUT and I read about people on here getting hight mileage on rear tires Me I don't care about how many miles I get on a tires the rear tires gets changed once a year at the beginning of the season. 20 years on the rode never a BLOW OUT with that said I always and I mean always change that rear tire every season I don't take any chances with tires I like to keep the rubber side down at all times I hope I didn't just jinks on my self REPLACE YOUR TIRES FORGET ABOUT MILEAGE Look at the money we spend on mods you we don't worry about the only think that keeps us UP

PS I hope he and his wife are ok

I posted on that other thread.

in my case the first blow out in 15 years was on a tire with 2000 miles- picked up a roofing nail somewhere around Devil's Tower.

the 2nd, 3 days later was due to an install problem on the new tire- the valve core was not properly reinstalled on inflation and backed . The metal cap held pressure for some time, then blew off, taking the top 1/2 of the threads with it.

( found it while waiting for the tow)

about 600 miles.

so 2 relatively new tires popped pretty quick.

Tires and other items are checked every day on tour, sometimes more than once now!

I never had a blowout but I did have one air down on me on a rental bike. Luckily it was while slowing down to an intersection just across the street from the rental place on he service road. It got squirrely pretty fast. I had g/f get off and walk the rest of the way while I nursed it over there. I cann;t imagine what would have happened if I were still at highway speeds.

Yes I can understand that and sometimes happens but as you know the first few hundred miles you nees to take it easy do to the oils on the rubber from the manufacturer and for the valve stem that was human error
