Default WG '10 vs SB '10

Hello everyone,
I wrote a post here quite a few months ago asking some questions regarding the Wide Glide 2010!
So I'm finally closing in on a decision, especially seeing as I've come to know a guy who works for HD here in Italy who just might be able to hook me up with one of the demo bikes they send out to the Bike Magazines around here.

It's quite cool as you get like a 25% price cut off a bike which has been used for an hour and yet it gets treated like if sold new in terms of warranty etc!

Either way, no matter how this turns out, I'm looking to get ahold of a Street bob or a wide glide 2010.
I love the looks of both bikes, maybe the wideglide has an advantage with it's stretched out looks.
What are your thoughts on these bikes in terms of bang for your buck?
Seeing as I'm 6'7 myself I wanted to ask if any of you big guys have had a chance riding either of the two, if so how did they fit you?
If I would go for the bob, I would have to install forwards on it, is this something reasonably cheap/easy to do?

I might also mention that this will actually be my first bike ever(!)
At first I was looking at a honda shadow but I quickly came to the realization that even though it might be a good thing riding around on a cheaper bike for a bit in order to get used to riding a big cruiser I just don't feel like throwing away cash on something I know I will want to trade in already after a month!

The only reason why I got my Motorcycle license was to be able to get a Harley, so now I just miss the last step to fullfill the dream!

Me and the wife have both. I have the '10 W.G. and she has the '10 S.B. Both are perfectly comfortable to me! At your height I would strongly recommend forward controls. The W.G. come stock with these. I have not ridden my wifes S.B. more than just a 30 second fling up the road, but I loved the way it felt. That said, I wouldnt part with my W.G.

How does the WG handle? also are you having issues with the stock exhaust scraping? maybe it's just me but it looks to be hanging real close to the ground!

Im not going to lie, i was very surprised on how well the Wide Glide handles. It corners like a dream. I havent had any trouble with scraping the exhaust, probably because the footpeg and/or my bootheel start scraping long before it gets to the exhaust. But it does handle very well. Very mobile. The Street Bob probably handles better, for considering how low and long the W.G. is, it still handles excellent.

I have an 09 Street Bob. I am 6'2" with a 35" inseam and had the HD forward controls installed at purchase. If I had it to do over agoain I would have had the Kuryakin 3" extended forwards installed. Actually I am planning to get some of the Kurys later this spring when i have the cash.

As for handling. I love the way the SB handles and feels. I have not tried the WG so I can't comment. As for looks. I think both bikes look great. I like the looks of the WG's raked out front end a little more than the SB's front end. But I like the bobbed fender and the mini apes that come stock on the SB more than the WG set up. Also the WG costs about $3,000 more than the SB. So for me it was SB. IN the future I may rake out the front end with a Wide Glide front end and have the best of both worlds.

Good luck. In my opinion you will not make a mistake with eirther. They are my two favorive HDs.

Thanks for the reply Junior07, I've actually been looking at the Kuryakin extended forwards myself, only issue is that I have no experience what so ever with wrenching, just afraid that the parts + installation would cost me a lot, whereas ordering the harley forwards with the bike would at least not cost me anything in terms of installation!

+1 on the W.G. I'm 6'2" 120 LBS. I was concerned about my size and handling a big bike, but I was amazed by the handling, and stability.

They are both really cool bikes. Can't go wrong either way. I went with the W.G. and am glad I did. Good luck with your decision, enjoy your new bike.

I think in the end the price will have a big impact on my decision as well, unfortunately the price of the import of the harleys is through the roof, seems that rather than bothering to convert the different currencies someone just put a € in the end of the price, rather than a $!
The Street Bob price here is 13,700€ (18,725USD) and the Wide Glide 15,400€(21,000USD).. I don't know how the hell that's even possible, but it seems to be the same all over Europe!

I think that in the end If I have to pick it up at the official HD shop, I'll just go with the WG but if I can get a hand on one of the demo bikes I'll just take whatever he can offer me seeing as he'll hook me up with a brand new Black SB or WG for 25-30% under their official price list.
