So about how long does it take a shop to do a front Brake Job? Both Front and Rear? I'd rather go in with a Ballpark on Labor than get taken advantage of.
How long it takes and how much they charge will never add up. They will quote you for the job using a "flat Rate" schedule. By that I mean they will say "we will charge you one hour labor (example) plus parts per wheel". If they are just replacing brake pads, it will probably take the tech 15 minutes per wheel. That's just the way it is at any dealer be it car or motorcycle. There is not much to changing brake pads, do it yourself and save a bundle!
Basically just getting back into riding after a l-o-n-g hiatus, so I'm dumber than a Box of Rocks on time and Labor. I'd rather pay a shop to get it right until I regain some experience and knowledge. So a front Rotor and Pads would be maybe an Hour?
In your orignal post you said brake job, nothing about a rotor. In my reply I said this was an "Example". Changing a rotor requires removing the wheel assembly. Replacing the pads does not. I would expect the labor to be considerably more if both rotors have to be changed. Why do you think you need rotors? There are many independant HD shops out there. You may want to look at that as an option.
For "do it yourself" in the future, these videos may be helpful. Www.fixmyhog.com
Sorry, Perhaps I should have stated Pad and Rotor instead of "Brake Job". And I am aware the wheels have to come off to replace Rotors. Thanks for the Video Link though.
I was basically looking for a time estimate to have an idea of what it could cost. I would also use a good smaller Local Indy before a Dealer that charges a Premium...
We charge $60 incl parts and labor to change brake pads. To pull a wheel we charge $60 no matter the type of bike. The rotor change would probably be another $30 plus the rotor.
