Take the damn tank off and do it proper. You'll be happy in the long run and might even learn something.
I would suggest a quick disconnect for the crossover though... makes life easier. And you really should pull the bars and run those wires internal while you're at it.
Not necessary to remove the tank. Just loosen the front mount and lift it. That will give you ample room to get your hand underneath the backbone and pull out the plastic cover that hides the wiring you're looking for.

Let us know how it goes. I have a set that I'll eventually install, but I've noticed that the instructions are for installing as additional lights rather than replacements. There is only one wire to the LED unit in the mirror. I think there is a circuit that allows running lights and turn signals over the same wire.
But I would ride most of the gas out and take the tank off.
yea, I plan on riding the tank almost dry before taking it off. And I think I can run the wire with out removing the bar if I do it right... I just have to wait for the semester to finish up in April so I have some time on my hands! (and a rainy day of course!)
Personally, I would let the dealer do it if you've got the extra bucks. I can see a scratched tank or worse yet, you do the wiring, put it back together and it doesn't work or blows fuses. When It comes to electrical, I let the professionals do it. Less headache in the long run.
personally, i wouldn't let the dealer touch my bike with a ten foot pole. getting the bike back from them, i can see a scratched/dented tank or worse yet they do the wiring put it back together and it blows fuses. when it comes to ANYTHING on my bike, i do it myself or bring it to an indy. less headache/money in the long run.
A buddy put a set of the HD Mirrors on his FatBob. I've got a set of the Kuryakyn turn signal mirrors on the way. Jimmy had to take his tank off and it was a bit of mating of elephants to get it done. From what I understand the Kuryakyn are plug N play.
