Doesn't run, all there, probably need a battery and the carb cleaned.
Front forks have been extended and the neck raked.
Sitting in my back yard was just looking at it and I can see some rust spots on some of the chrome.
Owner'll probably never ride it because of bad knees.
Thinking of making an offer to him for it.
Likely I'd just clean it up make it run and sell it.
Any Idea what one is worth?

Sounds like it's been used, abused, and neglected. Insides probably look like the outside. I'll bet anything the owner thinks it worth at least $10,000.
Actually it was garaged until the guy who was storing it moved back east. Maybe 1 year about.
It's just been sitting in my back yard for about 3-4 months.
The owner is doing down time.
If he'll part with it close to what the NADA book says I'll give him the price they say for good condition rather than just fair. Which is what they call any frame modification. NADA says $975.00 with the frame mod. Good is $2500.00
I'm sure I can make it run in a day.
Not a bad looking bike. I just don't care for the rake.
Offer a grand, work with him from there. But man, who Wouldn't keep an FXR for a grand?!
Even I think that's too little.
I ain't looking to screw the guy even though I've never met him.
It belongs to the father of the boy we're fostering and we just stored it so it wouldn't disappear when they for closed on his house. I also have his PT Cruiser stored for him. May have to do the same thing with it.
I want to be fair, but I don't want the bike to sit out there and go to ****.
So If I take it on I want to be able to make a few bucks off it.
I certainly don't need it to ride. I have my FXD and that's plenty of bike for me. Besides with the forward controls on the FXR it don't fit my short legs anyway.
The bike doesn't run, is/has been wasting away in the elements for months, and there is NO one else in the picture interested in the bike. Also, it's not like it's an old pan or something, it's just an evo. Offer him whatever you like, but in the owner's condition, and considering the circumstances, you pretty much have the upper hand in any negotiations. You're looking to make a couple bucks off the guy's bike while he's locked up, how exactly are you not looking screwing the guy? lol
I guess your right I could just let it rust away until he gets out so it would be worth less than it is now.
Seeing it from your perspective that's what I should do, and not try to treat him fairly while trying to help him out.
I guess I could just put a storage lean on it and take for the filing fees.
I'm sure you would agree with thAT.
