New bars install
I'm running 18's right now on my 06 streetbob. I didn't do install. I'm switching to the road6 16's. I know all my cable lengths are plenty. My question is how how is it to get the wires off the switches that are ran internal(high/low, horn blinkers). Thanks
Unplug them at the lower end where they plug into the harness, remove the plug (deutch connectors) and pull them back up through the bars ... then when you do the new bars, run a line through the bars and pull them back down from the topside ....
Take a photo or draw a diagram of the connectors so you will know how they go back together ....
Forum moderator Tom Battersby "Mud" has posted a number of photo essays on how to remove deutch connectors ... I just saw another post of his recently ... I'd recommend doing a search of his posts to find it ....

Don't take them off the switches. They're soldered and coated. Under your tank on the bottom of the frame is a plastic cap. You can access the connections under there. There will be a harness for the left and right controls. It's not hard, but a little time consuming to disconnect. Do you have a manual? It will help.
You'll need to loosen the rear tank bolt under the seat, and take the front bolt out so you can lift the tank up. Just prop it up with a towel or something. There's a plastic snap on each side of the frame in front of your front rocker box, push each one in and you can drop the "cap" out. Pull out the two harnesses, you should have a good bit of slack because they probably installed wire extensions. The new HDs have a quick release feature for the wires. There's a snap lock that sits over the wires, pop that up and you use a needle or safety pin to release each wire. Just be sure to note the location of each one (color=hole #). And like I said, a manual will have pics and diagrams for you.
Then you can feed them up the bars out where they went internal under your controls. Don't fight too hard though, because like I said, they probably installed extensions which you don't want to wreck. Then feed them through the same way on your new bars.
Good choice on the r6c's. I really like the look of them, and heard nothing but good things about the quality. Order the ones that have removable caps on the top bends though. The welded ones are supposedly a p.i.t.a. to wire.
Good luck, and like I said, get a hold of a manual... I suck at giving directions.

Have the service manual. Ya I order the ones with the end caps, they were delivered yesterday. Just would really like to try and get this install done myself, just tired of paying someone else, especially since it looks like I can just leave the throttle and clutch cable on the lever. I just need to get wires out of the bars.
A) you really don't need the service manual.
B) SURF...those are molex connectors, not deutsch.
Trust me.
C) Watch this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=52clbzQ2reg
D) Have fun. It's really not as hard as you think it is especially since your reusing your cables.
