I agree everything must be new. The bike is barely 8 months old with less then 3000 miles( don't flame me about the miles lol). Well it's in the shop now and I just waiting on the repair bill, for his sake I hope it not to big. The real problem is He's 5'nothing, driving a big 4x4 and can't see over the seat.
well thanks for the support guys.
oh then when i get home last nite my oldest son, was working on his truck (replacing the steering colum in the garage and he and he shorted something and the truck started in gear and smash the garage wall crushing everthing in front of it and knocking a hole into the inside wall.
lol i had such a restful 2 nigts of sleep lol

So, I guess this means you won't be available for the Raleigh Area Role Call ride this weekend . But seriously, that sucks, I always park at the front of the parking spot so it doesn't happen to me, but "never say die" cause poop happens to us all. BTW, I was putting on my gloves on 540 the other day going 60 without my hands on the handlebars ... no shaking.
New forks, fender, tire, rim...dont accept nothing less than brand new, once the insurance pays its over, they will wash thier hands of the whole mess and something will turn up..tell the shop you want it AS NEW, NEW PARTS.
Why stop there? Replace the rear wheel too! Replace everything including the seat. He he!
Just kidding. The guy was honest about hitting your bike. It would not be fair to rape him for being honest. Wrong lesson would be learned from that.
Fix what's needed, don't take advantage. Accidents happen.
It sounds like you have a friendship you need to balance with this. The guy seems willing to help out so that sounds good. The business side of this is your safety and leverage the insurance companies.
As far as the front wheel goes, I will admit that I don't have experience with this situation. However, on a motocross bike (similar fork/wheel setups), the front wheel always gets tweaked after a crash. We typically beat it against a post or tree to get it good enough to finish a race. If there is time, you loosen the front end up in the clamps and pinch bolts and let it settle back to nominal. What happens is the lower tubes in the fork twist with respect to the top and stay there.
I am hoping it is just tweaked and an easy fix (but have a shop do it). If parts are scratched and such, I would want them to be new or so I could never tell anything happened.
Again, I am not sure the mx bike correlates to the street bike, but it seems like it would be similar.
If you have a friendship with this guy, don't make it bigger than it needs to be. I would choose friendship over a scratch on my bike.
