Ok So last night i finished with the internal wiring of my new bars. I never cut any wires, did it the "proper way" and disconnected all the wires at the connectors. Went to check that everything was working properly and only a few things light up. My brake light is working when i squeeze the front brake, my speedometer is lighting up, and my horn is working, also the security key is blinking. Nothing else lights up and nothing happens when i try to start.
I did not reconnect the front turn signals yet as i am waiting on a relocation kit.
I have a 08 street bob and my bike has sat out in a cold garage all winter. brought the battery indoors about 2 months ago, and have since tried to charge it using a 6 volt 2 amp charger overnight. I am pretty sure the battery is dead, but with a couple lights working, it is throwing me off. Just want to get some opinions.
I had a short that made my battery died... and everything was lightning up until when I hit the starter button: lightning was going dead along with the bike...
The fact that your front flashers aren't connected can leave opened the circuit make other lights dead until the circuit is closed... but that shouldn't affect the started since it's not on the same circuit... at least it's that way on my 92 fxrs...
Charge your battery and let see if that does the trick
Yeah...they haven't used 6v systems for a loooooong time. Your motorcycle is a 12v system. get a 12v 1.5a trickle charger.
Also, make sure you have the wires in the right locations and that nothing is pinched/shorting out.
When I did mine, my one turn signal failed to work. When I checked it, the metal pin wasn't making contact in the connector. A very slight bend and WA-LA!

Thanks everyone. appreciate the help. When i get home tonight i will look over the wires and make sure everything looks good, then i guess try to charge the battery with the right tender overnight and see what happens. If all else fails i'll pick up a new battery and go from there.
Well it turns out my ignition switch had been disconnected when i was putting the wires back in the neck. Once i connected it back up, everything worked like a charm. Thanks for your help. This just happened to someone else on the forum when they were internally wiring new bars, so it seems that this connecter is easily disconnected when fishing the wires into the neck.
Thanks again, and I will post picks over the weekend of my winter mods completed.
