My freakin handlebar indecisiveness is messing me up... On the one hand I like like low bars visually over anything, on the other, my back says I need to take some excedrin to stave off the slight ache I get in my back from such bars over time... Now I have 8" risers and nightrod bars...I want low(stock 1.5")risers and these bars... I can't decide what to do... the 8" risers and bars look good to me with my front fender off, They loose their appeal with the fender installed(where the lower bars look better IMHO with fender)... I need the fender... so I need to take excedrin and ride with low bars, or say *** it, and ride with the risers and bars... I can't decide.
Rounder, sometimes it's not the height of the bars that's the problem - it's the reach forward and those of yours look like there's not a lot pullback on the risers. I had a similar problem with my stock Dyna when I bought it, the reach was uncomfortable althought the height wasn't too bad. Also the width of the bars has a lot to do with their comfort
Long story short, but I simply sat on the bike with my arms / hands in the most comfortable position and went off to my local Harley independent guy who let me try a few different bars for size. That's how I ended up with the Buck bars. Looks wise they didn't float my boat at all at first, but now I love both the look and the position of them, I can ride a lot further now without getting fatigued and muscle /Joint pain (something I suffer with anyway). Just for comparison, I'm quite a short guy - 5' 6-7ish with a 29" in-seam
Anyway - what I'm saying is, have you considered getting some risers the same height but with the appropriate pull back that's comfortable for you?
Hey you know me I like to do things for the look I want but that said I ride well over 10k miles a year so it has to be comfortable.
My whole winter mods was started because I wanted a couple more inchs of pull back. It was all done to get me the comfort level I wanted. Granted I added alot of other things for looks but comfort was the first motivation.
As far as looks its all personal but I like the looks of 7 to 9 inch risers better than the low ones my self.
4 inch pullback riser and those bars would look good and bring the handlebars back enough to maybe take the strain off your back. I think thats what I want to do to mine some day. Kind of like an early lowrider or sturgis, pull back riser and a drag bar = cool...
I had stock buck horns on my 09 FXDC. rode to texas fron N.Cal and had to put 4inch risers with a 2 inch pull back. Alot more confortable coming home that way. If your old or with back problems, comfort wins out over lookin Bitchen anyday for me!! My 2 cents..
