Lining up heat shield tips

Lining up heat shield tips
I put on my VnH big radius 2-1 pipes, but im having trouble getting the heat shields to line up and say lined up. I got them pretty well matched up, but after a little riding, they separated about 1/4" i tried tightening down the clamps more but they still seem to move. any suggestions?

I had the best luck by first putting everything in loose. then slowly tightening and retightening till I got it where I wanted.
In the process I found I needed a 1/4 " spacer that wasn't included to make them come together right.
Every Bike is a little different. it took me 6 hours of playing to get it right.
