Congrats on the new bike man. I know you've been waiting a while as well. It's funny you mention the vibrations because I've been experiencing the same thing. Although, it has calmed quite a bit as I put more miles on the bike. I'm assuming it's just the engine and bike breaking in. I wouldn't worry about it at this point. You shouldn't even reach 6th gear for a few hundred miles. 5th gear is the one that it's most notable in. Like I said, don't worry about it.

Enjoy and be safe!

Congrats on the new bike - love the Wide Glides (all years), not that I'm biased

I haven't experienced any of these vibrations/rattling besides normal engine vibration or if I happen to lug the engine for a second.

Funny how now it's the FXD line that people mention vibration. I rode a '89 Softail for over 120k mi. and the rubber mount crowd always asked how I could stand the vibrations. They were never that bad. The only reason HD kept the rubber mounted V-Twin around was because it was too costly to redesign and build new frames on the FXD and FLH lines, otherwise, they'd all have counter balanced motors. Like evry other
V-twin in cruiser land has. I have a '06 Softail now, it's smooth as glass. Even up over 70 mph there's only a slight buzz, hardly noticable, never annoying.
I sat on a new WG and I like them. They sit low like a Softail, and I think the new look is much better than the older ones. Actually wouldn't mind seeing HD do something similar in the Softail line. Enjoy your new ride!

Mine kind of did the same thing when i rode it for the first time, now i dont even notice it with around 250 miles.I did put 70 miles on the first time i rode it so it must be something to do with break in.Go out and ride it and see if it gets better but most of all enjoy it.

I think all your doing running a couple hundred rpm to low, downshift when it happens and see if it vibrates the same. I know when I first got mine I babied it and had a little lugging going on.

I had sort of the same thing as well the first two days, for now I try running slightly higher RPM in each gear than what I usually would (even though I'm breaking her in) and I also tend to downshit a bit earlier than I normally would and it works fine.

First day I had her stuttering a couple of times, I quickly started just ignoring how I used to shift on other bikes etc and just listened to the engine.

Funny this is being discussed here I went for a ride yesterday 250kms and noticed the same thing, weird really with the very quiet (stock pipes) all I did was downshift and the bike is fine, seems it likes to run in a certain rev range.

I get it when I am either to high in the revs or to low in the revs in the middle its "money" I am still learning the new bike only about 800km on the clock right now but I am falling in love :-) the bike is everything you need on the road ride is sweet :-)

My advice just listen and feel whats its doing and you will get it right :-)

PS run it in like your going to ride it has always been my moto.
