Default T/c 96 primary fluid level.

With your bike on a stand and level, how many of you add a full quart of oil ?I have read quite a few different things about how much oil the primary actually needs, some say 28 ozs, some say 32 ozs etc. Book says 1 QT. I know that the Engine actually only takes 2.5 qts unless you split the cases for a rebuild etc.I think alot of folks with oil in their breathers are adding too much engine oil.Just curious.

I just did my 1000 mile service today. I was only able to drain 28 oz. out. Book calls for 32 oz. I split the difference and added 30. I looked inside and it was just at the bottom of the clutch..Too much will cause you problems...I don't think 2 oz. is going to hurt...

Been puttin' 32oz. in when on the kickstand for 2 and a half years now with no problem. You might have to wipe a few drops of overflow off the primary cover. Don't over think this one!

I have always used a whole quart myself, but have read over the past few months that it actually only takes 28 ozs ? I figure that 32 ozs is not overfilling it. I just serviced the rear end on my pick-up truck and the manual says 2.5 quarts , but i will be damned if i can get that half qt in it, it just starts oozing out the filler hole on top after 2 qts.. Go figure .

I've been throwing a whole quart in mine for the past 2 1/2 years as well. 26,500 miles later, and I think I'm doing alright. Not really a big deal. Just throw it in and ride.
