Default Value: Super Glide vs. Super Glide Custom

The MSRP is $1,000 more on the Custom, but are you getting $1,000 more worth of stuff on it?
If I got the Super Glide, I would swap the mag wheel for spokes. That's the one feature of the Custom that I really dig. Custom has more colors-that you pay extra for.

If I was buying new, are there other things on the Custom that are worth $1,000, or is it better to just Custom-ize the Super Glide?

Just get the Low Rider....if you like the black engine & chrome trees & cases& tach & risers and rake. But the SGC is beter than the plain SG IMO.

It depends on what you're value-ing. The custom has a two up seat, lower rear suspension, a slightly different tank, and the paint options. Personally, I'd be changing the seat out either way, putting a larger rear tire on to fill the fender area or lowering, ripping off the exhaust, a/c...
What I'm saying is, for me, it wouldn't matter. But if those features are what you want, and won't be changing everything anyway, get the one you like better.
Think of it this way too. If you're paying cash, it makes a difference. If you're financing, it comes out to roughly $20 a month difference on your payments. And like I said, if you're like me, and change parts as often as oil, $1000 isn't much to **** over in the long run.

Oh and the wheels. I'm on the fence with those. I like the look of my spokes, but I'm over cleaning them.

Main reasons I went for the custom are the extra chrome I would have had to buy eventually plus the classic tank mounted speedo, spokes, and 2 up seat.

I have seen a lot of posts/people who keep trying to find something to do with the handlebar mounted speedo on the SG. The Tank mounted dash did it for me with the SGC, but the chrome didn't hurt either. Also, if you EVER plan on going 2 up, It will be a lot more expensive than you think to convert the SG. Think Footpeg brackets and pegs plus the price of the 2up seat. On the SGC all you have to do is put a solo seat on to get the solo look.

I do, however, love the tank on the SG. Teh '10 SGC seems to be the low rider replacement as it is blacked out in the motor, and actually lower than the 09 Lowrider. It just doesn't have the extra rake or tach.

I have a 09 SGC, so I am biased. Both are great, but I think you do get extra value with the Custom.

If I had the FXDC in 2002 to chose from I would have done it and saved a few dollars in the process. The silver and chrome engine is a good looking engine. The two up saddle, passenger pegs and other extras is worth the grand.

i think the custom is definately a better "buy", however, i bought the fxd because i didnt want spoked wheels. i travel alot and i want to be able to plug a tire to get home. a tube just doesnt get it for me. i also like the looks of the cast weels better. it would have cost another 2 grand to get the wheels swapped out and i didnt want to go there. i think the day of spoked wheels is gone, but that's just my opinion.

I'd get the FXD . I love the tank , and the mag wheels . Plus you can take the extra money you save and black it out , or add cams , etc .

FXDC is the best overall value. Already 2 up, dash mounted speedo and chrome fiddly bits.

I knew I wanted a Dyna. It came down to FXDC or Lowrider for me. FXDC won out on cost alone. Lowrider would have been nice for the tach (love the look), but thats all that it would be. Look. I wouldn't USE the tach. I shift everything by ear and feel.
