Default hooray finally painted!

I finally got to lay down the paint! Results we about a 6 out of 10. Tomorrow I will sand down with 1000 grit and do a final coat. I practiced some more with spray out cards after the tins were done. I found my ideal settings for the gun now. I laid down the paint a little too thick and the flat color is a touch more shiny than it is supposed to be. ergo the 6 out of 10 rating. The changes I made to the gun have fixed that. Interesting learning process for sure. Good news is all my efforts will be quite valuable for anyone wanting to learn and do their own paint job....

Yeah man...this painting thing is harder than I thought it would be. If I could only resist the urge to touch the paint BEFORE IT'S DRY I'd be doing ok.

Glad to give ya'll a chuckle. lol

So, tues I spray my fenders. I bought some gloss black rattle-can.

First up, the front fender. It's smaller and if it looked like crap not too bad to sand down. I spray and it looked awesome. Glistening in the sunshine. Wait 15-20min and spray another light coat. Still looks great. Wait a little longer.........dry to the touch. Ok, so I bring it in and start masking it for the blue I bought. Some Metalcast Blue rattle-can. Looks cool. Well, the tape (blue) ruined the paint. It was still just a bit too soft.

I start to wet-sand. Ruined it even more.

Ok...rear fender. 1st coat looked awesome. wait for it to get dry to the touch. Spray another coat. One side looks great. Then the spray can malfunctions and a lot of freakin paint sprays out.....a huge run all the way down the side of the fender. F$#@^##^^##$%@#......

I set it on the side and pack up for the day.

Go back today(fri). Wet sand my eff-ups. Looks good. I had sanded through on a few spots so I grab my primer. HOLY #$@@^##^# as soon as the primer hit the paint it dam bubbled up like nobodies business. F$%&#*#%&#%&%^

Grab my stripping wheel and just strip both fenders down to metal.....

buddy hooks me up with some primer with a nice wide fan. Set up front fender. Spray it. Looks great. (are we seeing a pattern yet???) Spray another light coat. Still looks good. I decide, while it is still wet to move it to a better place to dry. I reach underneath, pick it up...get 3 feet from the table and WHAM-O...I drop it wet side down. I was fit to be tied. Just a mess....

Again I just sit it off to the side.

Spray the rear....wait 10-15min and spray another light coat. LOOKS GOOD. I didn't even freakin breathe. I just packed up and left. lol

Tomorrow I'll wet-sand the front fender again and spray it and not effing touch it.

I used to have patience. I don't know where it's gone. Maybe I lost it because I don't fish anymore.

Anyway, you have to show us your paint. I'd like to live vicariously through you for a bit.
