Could be too much slack in the primary chain , causing it to slap the inside of the primary cover . I saw this happen to a friend's bike , it didn't turn out good .
You can always check and make sure it has enough primary fluid in there. You'll have a kind of sewing machine noise coming from there with the chain. I switched to AMSOIL 10W-30 in the primary and it quited it down a bit. Keep us posted when you find it if it's anything at all. Kind of hard for us to tell you what it on the net of course, just throwing ideas out there.
ya know what. thats pretty much how it sounds. like a sewing machine. problem is im not sure whats normal. do they all make some sort of noise.
anyhow. just adjusted my idle. maybe i should look further in to the fluids before i spend 250 on a once over considering harley supposed to have done that less then 200 miles ago(other owner) and i do have the paper work saying they did.
TEST RIDE
(((edit to add))) after idle adjustment from around 1500 rpm down to 1000 rpm's i can say when the clutch is pressed the bike goes right in to the low idal at stops. thats a lot more quiet

If you change the primary oil yourself that year Dyna will require 26 ozs., too much and you'll experience problems finding neutral. When adjusting your clutch, when you decide to do this, adjust when engine is cold. A little secret for the clunk when shifting into first, pull the clutch in, wait about ten seconds and it should just just slip in in. Two dynas and they don't make the same noises.
Did your service of 200 miles ago, include Syn3 oil?
I had the dealer do that at my 1k service.... I changed 150 miles later, 'cause it sounded like I had marbles in the case. The Syn3 is thinner, and also caused a louder 'sewing machine' noise from the primary as well. A good 10/30 dino for the primary (in my opinion) is best.
ok pulled the service records before i purchased the bike and found nothing about the primary so i pulled the the clutch inspection cover standing the bike upright. what i found was hardly anything. like in low low oil in the case. it is hard to see in there so i leaned the bike all the way on the kick stand and barley saw it. so im guessing harley did **** on that service as i seem to be way low...
im guessing that the sound from my primary would be caused by low oil. smell seemed ok so hopefully i caught this in time.

Glad I do all my own stuff. Just make sure not to overfill it.
It is entirely possible there is something wrong with your bike AND you are crazy. You do not provide enough information for anyone here to make a determination on which might be the case.
