2001 low rider only about 7-10 rides so far so im still getting to know her.
anyhow. i think there seems to be a noise coming from the primary area just below the heads. just a noise type sound. you can hear it at idle or when the bike runs. i dont remember that sound as i try and get in-tuned with what im driving although im not 100% sure.
now i did put in some sea foam. maybe to much? tank was half full then went to fill it up.
thoughts. anything to check? would sea foam cause any damage?
thanks man. its not a clicking or clunk or anything like that. you can hear it while sitting on the bike in N. when i rev the throttle it goes with it in N.
the only place i know is the Harley Dealer. never dealt wit them.
try going over all your bolts and tightening everything up then go from there.
get your head closer to the source with the bike running. have someone hold the bike upright and give the engine some revs and see if you can't pinpoint the noise.
Ok took it to a local wrench and he said it sounds fine. did not take it for a ride . im going to bring it in for service just to be sure-a once over fluids and so forth.
however-
I know for sure that when i change gears my clutch is loud (click) plus at times its a tad tough(not hard) just not as smooth as it was switching gears.
I still think the bikes a tad louder then it was and i know for sure my clutch is louder so i wonder if it all ties together.??
Shifting with the loud clunk is normal for HD's. You can quiet it a little running gear oil in your trans. If it's tough to go in and out of gear, maybe a clutch adjustment. If you are coming from a Rocket or most other bikes, the HD shift is going to be tougher then those. If you're taking it in for a once over and there is nothing wrong I'd just call it good and ride.
Thanks man however i know the clutch was not that loud last week.
You can always check and make sure it has enough primary fluid in there. You'll have a kind of sewing machine noise coming from there with the chain. I switched to AMSOIL 10W-30 in the primary and it quited it down a bit. Keep us posted when you find it if it's anything at all. Kind of hard for us to tell you what it on the net of course, just throwing ideas out there.
