I just bought a 1992 Dyna Lowrider and it vibrates like hell on deceleration from 40mph on down. Has anyone had this problem or have any ideas how to fix it?
Is the vibration from the front or the rear? Is your front tire cupped? How about your front brakes are they in need of replacement?
What about your front rotor, is it a free floater or one piece? You may need to clean the holes in the rotor of any brake dust or other debris. If you have a free floating rotor you may need to take the rotor apart and clean the pins that hold it all together.
Without knowing where the vibration is or where it is coming from hard to tell you what could be causing it.
Check motor mounts, rear sprocket bolts, compensating sprocket, and primary chain.
If you do it in that order and find it in the motor mounts or rear sprocket you won't need to pull the primary cover. Don't forget to get a good new gasket first. I like the Cometic's 'cause I can reuse them many times.
I had this problem...until yesterday. As soon as I came off the throttle, the engine shook hard/rattled for a 3-5 seconds. It was way more than just standard vibes. Pulling in the clutch lever didn't alleviate the problem right away, either. I ended up replacing my front isolator- what a difference.
Admittedly, I don't know much about a 1992 Lowrider and how it relates to an '06 Street Bob, but changing the front isolator worked wonders for me.
thanks for all of the input. The vibration is in the handlebars, I will ride it today and see if it changes when I pull the clutch in and anything else I can pinpoint.
there is also a good chance the idle mixture is too lean. You got a carb so I say this because mine will do the same thing if not turned out enough. That is of course if your engine braking some.

Could it be the rubber bushings have to be replaced or were torqued to tight?
I put about 60 miles on the bike today, the vibration happens around 1800-2500 rpm and stops when I pull the clutch in. I have heard that this is normal in this year dyna. Does anyone else have this? Also could someone explain what a compensator is and how I tell if I need to replace it?
