I have about 250 miles on my 2010 FXDC. I have noticed that while it is very smooth in a straight line, when I am leaning into a turn, I feel a slight vibration, really more like a slight roughness, in the handlebars. There is no shaking, but just a rough feeling in the bars. It seems to do this on rough and smooth roads and in both directions.
The forks, axle, etc. seem solid but I haven't actually measured anything to check tolerances. I asked the sales manager at the stealer (an aggressive rider with a Dyna) and he told me that he had heard of this on some Dynas and one recommendation was to make the fork stem tighter - even beyond the recommended torque. Not sure I like that advice.
I also wondered whether this was caused by the tread pattern on the tires. I plan to have my local indy (custom bike builder) look at it this week.
Has anyone else noticed this? Any recommendations besides a complete check of the front end? Thanks for any advice.
I've noticed a similar description in my new '10 FXDB.
The 'grinding' feeling in the front forks is only slight, but noticeable when making round bends in the road.
I can't notice it on turns probably because I am riding slower, but I can definitely feel some tension on the front wheel on road bends.
Without much riding experience, I can't tell if it is the Forks, the Brake, or the New Tire.
i got the same thing in my 10 Bob withthe scorchers. IMO it has everything to do with the stupid "bar and shield" punched into the tires. it's not a tire groove, more like a hole, and i can't see it serving any purpose
Almost certain it's the Michelin front tire. Mine does the same thing. Had a Honda Valkyrie once, exact same symptom but it was a Dunlop tire on the front. I know for a fact that it was the tire on the Honda.
I have the same vibration leaning into turns left or right at around 35 mph. I had the dealer look at it. I got new front wheel bearings, tightened a few spokes and I even had the True-Trak Stabalizers put on. It STILL vibrates. I never thought of th Michelin Scorchers causing it.
