Default turn signal relocation

the turn signals completely bother me being on the handle bars and i am going to get the relocation kit and install it. my question is , how difficult is the wiring issure? i see the wires go into the switch boxes and i assume the run down the braded cover into the frame. how do you go about re-routing the turn signal wires. a pictured instructional wouild be best haha, but if someone could share some great experienced advice, id be greatfull. thanks.

It's a pain in the ***. Sort of.

You have to pull the wiring out of the frame through the holes right behind the front fork, until you get to where the plug is. Unplug it, then use a small pick to actually remove the pins from the plug. Then you can reroute the wires. Once you get them rerouted where you want them, you put the pins back in the plastic holders, plug them together, and try and mash them back into that clusterf*ck of wires in the frame.

Sliding the tank back and removing the little plastic holder from under the tank is virtually a must.

Keep track of which plug is for which side. Also need to keep track of which color wire goes in which number hole on the plugs.

And then you may hate the looks of the factory kit with that stalk that sticks way out and doesn't fit very well and get to do it all over again. Don't ask how I know.

Another plus is that you may get to join the brotherhood of the flustrated, pissed off, connector pin hatin' Harley riders.[:@]

Whew....I was wanting to relocate mine too. I think I'll just learn to like them on the handlebars. I really hate getting pissed at my bike.

Says...

I didnt do all that stuff like Psycho did.

I took the turn signals loose from the handlebar mount. Cut the wires going to the turnsignals about 6 inches from the turnsignals. Pull the cut wires through the loops. from both ends. Mounted the turnsignals on the forks where I wanted them, just below the triple trees. Slid on some shrink wrap, soldered the wires back together, use diaelectric grease on the bare wires, a little electrical tape, slid the shrink wrap over the electrical tape, heated the shrinkwrap to shrink up over the wires, took the excess wiring and folded it up, a couple cable ties, then a couple of cable ties secured it the the rest of the wiring at the frame neck. Took about 20 minutes. I'll try to find the step by step pics I took tonight and post them

I put the 39mm version of those on my Sporty and never did warm up to it. Looked goofy...

physco how did you mount those to the fork like that? looks much better.. ive had a dilema with moving them just for the reason that the mounts the factory offers look goofy and stick out to much. im just so sick of the way they look on the handlebars. i like everything all blacked out and minimal but i do want to dress up the handle bars with nice trim peices and had grips without it looking like a farking xmas tree with ornaments.
