Bulletproof Saddlebag for Dyna..
All those without struts ..no point reading this those with can continue
Was a bit bored here couple of weeks ago and even though I have a superb Swedish single saddlebag(see album) its large and mostly only have it on for long tours,got used to it being there for throwing in crap like waterproofs,couple of tools and thermos etc but was a bit big for everyday so wanted something cheap and suitable looking for the Bob.
Mmm seen softails etc in the past with ammo boxes bolted to the side so popped down the local ex military store and managed to get hold of one the right size.
12"long x 6" wide x 7 1/2" deep.
Had to measure up the cut out for the Dyna shock otherwise would'nt fit.Took it to an old retired guy in the village who did the cut out and implant for me..took it home,drilled a couple of mounting holes,rattle canned it red oxide/matt Black and bolted it up..everything cleared,suspension-belt guard etc..test rode it 100 k's..solid as a rock.
Cost of ammo box = 5 quid
Cost of welding= 20 quid
Paint=Fiver
Total... Ł30... cheap to make and usefull everyday recycled ammo box.
Nice medium metal carry thing on the side for peanuts and looks keeewl !!

Nice work. I was thinking about making something similar that I could lock my sidearm in when traveling. I like the ingenuity. I have a hotrod/ratrod that I in which I have gotten creative making my own parts and etc. similar to what you did.
