Moral of the story. Test everything before you re-assemble. I tested almost everything.
EricInNCa- I swapped out the standard buckhorn bars with a set of mini apes that a buddy took off his wide glide. Huge difference. I feel like I have a new scoot. Such a better feel for me, plus they look great.
The best part is I did it all for free. I take that back, I bought a $1.50 chrome acorn nut.
I managed to get the left grip off the old bars without wrecking it. I used an ice pick, small screwdriver and some WD-2 to loosen it. I cleaned it with brake cleaner and glued it back on.
I relocated the turn signals to the lower pinch bolt on the trees using the existing hardware as described in the under $50 mod section. On the right side I made a little temporary L-bracket instead of buying part# 67829-88. SC-Longhair has one for me, so I'll swap that when it gets here.
The brake line just makes it. All the other cables and wires were fine.
It just took patience and time. I have more time than money. Work sucks in the Detroit area.
Thanks again
Rick
