07 FXD loud banging over bumps

Default 07 FXD loud banging over bumps
Ok here is my problem, When I go over bumps I can hear a very loud bang like metal to metal, Dealer said front fork bearings are loose, Checked was not the problem, Replaced front engine mount, Not the problem, Sounds like it is under the tank area. I can not find anything loose. No vibration on the bike, I can ride hands free at any speed from 20 to 100, Please offer up you Ideas or past problems please.

check the tank bolts

First place I'd look is the exhaust system. Forget about where the noise seems to be coming from - the way sound travels on a moving bike makes that very unreliable. Just check everything.

Ok, I checked the tank bolts, tight, Exhaust tight, Snubber is there,

there is a new washer for the steering head. i put it on mine and the bump went away. but the bump was obviously in the steering head. if not, i would still put my money on the gas tank. good luck

Had the same sound...I swore it was coming from under the tank somewhere. Turned out that little rubber "bump stop" thingy that keeps the jiffy stand from hitting the frame slid back. Just repositioned it and it was fixed.

The front tank bolt was loose on mine and I didn't cacth it for a while because it felt tight but if I lift up the front of the tank aggressively it was loose and this sounds like the bike is falling apart.

I would double check tank bolts
