Default Need Repair Work Done :(

So I took the bike that I just bought to check to see if there was Map downloaded to the CPU today and of coarse there wasn't ! previous owner dropped in a K&N high flow filter and was running a open exhaust which caused the bike to run really lean and HOT. So I went ahead and just paid the $160 to download a stage 1 for my peace of mind. The the good news

The Bad News: The Tech came to me and told me that I needed a new inner primary roller barring and inner bearing race ... I guess then you put the bike in "N" you hear a pretty bad grinding sound coming from it and he was about 95% that was the problem ....

Repair Quote = $359.58 ($100.29 in parts $250 in Labor) brought the bike home to think about it and hopefully call around to maybe anouther mechanic who can do it for less.

What can result from this if I don't repair it right away ? Should I park the bike untill its fixed ? Can I do the repair my self ... looks pretty easy !

That is a known issue on that bike. Its going to take some legwork on your part but get them to do it under warranty.

If not repaired...you'll have bigger issues to deal with.

If you have any wrenching skills you can repair it for less than $100.00 and use the Baker high torque bearing upgrade.

But the issue is a design flaw. Search these forums for "IPB" or "Inner Primary Bearing" and you'll understand.

Im not saying they will honor it under warranty but since it's a design flaw...try like heck to get them too.

Vic is right others have had they're bike fix on the MoCo's dime even after the warranty was up. It's really not to bad of a job if you have a service manual. My bearing didn't go bad but I replaced it w/ the baker bearing a couple of weeks ago while I had my primary off.

Here, send a PM to PKellyMc and he can answer all your questions about getting the Moco to fix it. With the right procedures and phone calls you can get them to replace the primary case and the transmission case to the upgraded 07 version with the locating dowels.
