Angry Low Profile Stock Taillight Stem Install Problem

First thing: 2007 Street Bob

Got the 1" rear stems in the mail a couple days ago. After I got loosened up a lit, went to the garage for some bike tweekin. Removed the wiring plugs from the taillight assemb. Undid the wiring stays. removed the turn signal shaft bolts, then removed turn signals.

First problem: Stock bolts too long to remove without jacking up bike/removing shocks. Solution: Bolt Cutters.

Remove the pieces, take the taillight assemblies into the kitchen to get a good look at the wiring plug and sundries.

Second Problem: stock wiring has nice plastic connectors that won't slide out of standard length turn signal offsets. Solution: use tiny screwdriver to open flap on wiring connector then drive out both metal ends.

Install new offsets and reinstall the plastic connectors. Seems easy, right? Ok, go back to the garage, slip fit everthin... perfect. Go to grab a bolt and what do u kno? Too short. Why can't ebay sellers get their shyt togheth?

Now my rear signals look like two limp diks... guess i'll be workin on my bike tomorrow....

H.S.

I have only even though of using bolt cutters on a HD for one job. Removing old pushrods without pulling the heads off.

Default Short Taillight stems.

I know it’s been 13 years since this post went up so it’s a long shot of you replying, but what stems did you get? Currently looking for some on my bike but can’t find any

The last time he posted here was about 9 years ago. I don't think he's going to reply. Did you look on eBay like he mentioned? Personally, I would never buy crap parts off eBay, but you know, whatever and all that.

Look on JPCycles site or directcycleparts.com. Chris products sell the short mounts like I have mounted on my Fat Bob. You'll have to get your own bolts but that's not hard.
