Thanks for the info... Yeah I have researched the climate and all but you can (in my opinion) get no better info than word of mouth from some one that lives there.
I assume its hell hot in the summer and pretty mild in the winter? Is it super windy all the time like the plains out here and in Wyo? I'd hate to have my WideGlide sand blasted...lol.
I live just west of Phoenix and I work in Yuma during the week. Here's my opinion. The weather here allows for more riding I believe as it tends to be a little warmer but starting in June or so I park my bike for about three to four months. Until you have ridden a bike in 115 degrees you just can't understand. Also, all the roads around Phoenix are straight so not much in the fun department. The best places to ride are north and east of Phoenix. My favorite ride is between Wickenburg and Sedona but also some good riding to the east like around Show Low. You are gonna hate the summers though.....that's for sure.
Yeah I know where Buckeye is... A friend of mine lived there for a bit driving for Wal-Mart before he moved to Utah to do the same.
Any way, yeah I figure its going to be really hot. It gets pretty hot here in the summer as well but not the same. I've been to Moab wheeling in June and it was 117deg out on the trail so I figure that might be similar.
Due to the elevation between Phoenix and Green Valley I assume that is why they say its cooler down there (1117ft in PHX and 2980ft in GV) but I'm sure its still hotter than the average 90-95 here.
And I would agree that riding in 115deg heat would be miserable, if you sweat even when you are moving that isn't good...lol.
Oh and yes the strait vs curvy road part is part of what I was wondering also... I will miss riding in the summer here its absolutely amazing, best riding I've ever done for sure...
