Oh man. This thread really makes me want to get out on the road... The wife & I have only done short day trips (200 - 250 miles). It's gonna be a long winter. Thanks all for all the postings!

It's gotten to the point where I've eliminated using a shield altogether since fighting the wind is preferable to getting headaches and double vision from the buffeting.
I did some great rides across the country using a QR HD shield. I found if I kicked the bottom out (forward) 2" it made the shield slice through the air with zero buffeting.

Here's ine a few years back down in the Smokeys....

Then up in Milwaukee for the 105th.....

TowJam, I also ride a Fat Bob with a fullface helmet and experience the same buffeting when I use my HD quick detach windshield. I've tried adjusting the height, but it doesn't seem to make any difference. For now I have decided I am better off without it.

I agree, wife and I did a little weekend trip just to see if she would like it, seems she didn't like it she loved it. Now she said we should take a whole week and do a trip. I can't wait for better riding weather

I'm tellin ya, its probably the aerodynamics of the shield. Ever stick your hand out of the car window and hold it up in a 'stop' position, palm facing forward? Remember how your hand would be forced to move all over. Now if you made the tips of your fingers come rearward a little , all of a sudden your hand would stay still much easier. Aerodynamics. Apply the same thinking to your shield. Those HD qr's seem to be too 'straight up and down', so it will cause turbulence and make the front end shudder.

Anyway, it worked for me.

Is there anyone here who takes long trips on a Dyna? How does it work out for you? Any insights appreciated.
