Anyone tour on a Dyna?
What tour pack and mount is that? Looks good.

The Low Rider was a ball and some days I miss old "XG". ( named her XG for ex girlfriend. Amazing what you can afford when you are single)
The tour pack came from a swap meet, needed some leather dye and conchos to cover holes, but worked out great..

The Best of Harley-Davidson for Lifelong Riders
Can't say it is as good for long trips as the touring models though. These models are designed for that. Dynas are awesome cruisers and a lot of fun. Love riding it hard, handles twisties well, but in terms of racking up the miles on long trips I think it understandably comes up short vs the touring bikes for a bunch of reasons.
1) Far less protection against wind and rain
2) Less range due to a smaller tank
3) No radio
4) No cruise control
5) Better storage options on the touring bikes
This is no way a knock on the dyna's. I think it is HD's best all around bike.
Just got back from a 2055 mile ride in 45 hours on my Street Bob Sunday and I don't see why you can't tour on a Dyna. The only thing I could have wished for was more storage space but I was able to fit a bag with rain gear, 3 sets of gloves, lunch, leather jacket, face mask, paper log for the ride and some water in it. I had a sleeping bag strapped on top of that and in the bag strapped to my front lower frame I had some tools.
As for the other points mentioned...
I didn't encounter anything but sprinkles but I do agree the touring bikes have more protection due to the fairing. My memphis Shades windshield is fine with me though.
I averaged slightly more than 50mpg on my 4.7 tank and we were stopping usually about 150 miles (dropped to 125 near the end of the ride and even a few stops less than that). I had plenty of gas to go farther but some of the other bikes needed gas. I don't see any problem with the tank size.
I had an mp3 player so the radio on the touring bikes makes no difference to me.
Cruise control really would have helped my still sore swollen hands and numb finger tips for this ride but this ride was pretty extreme. If I were travelling maybe 500 -750 miles a day on a tour I really don't see any problem with not having a cruise control. I used the throttle lock for the first time on this ride and I kinda liked it.
