Default Help on mounting mirrors

I know this is probably dead simple and I'm just being dumb. '10 Street Bob, mirrors are from J&P Cycles, house branded. This is the hardware included in the kit (2 of each) :

So I go to mount the left side first, since it doesn't require an adaptor to clear the master cylinder. I use that longish piece on the top of the pic. After some fitting, I had to remove to 2 pieces you see on the bottom from it (the sleeve didn't quite clear the hole and that other part there didn't seem right for the flat surfaces on the handle).

Now the problem is the mirror, while being mounted and looking right, is quite loose. If I pull on it lightly, I can actually get it to spin around on its arm. I torqued everything as much as I could but I can still dislodge it with just a flick of the wrist. What is it I'm missing here ?

Here is my handy work :

I ran out of time so I didn't quite get to figuring out the right side with the adaptor yet. If any of you has any tips, feel free to post about that too.

I know to get my mirrors tight i had to tighten the bolt up with the mirror not postioned right. Then push the actual mirror around to the right postion (make sure its tightening it) untill I couldnt move it any more. Took a few tries to get it postioned right.

I hope that makes some sense.

If only they had included any to begin with.

At least the horn cover was pretty straightforward. These mirrors are being a pain.

Plenty. That's actually not a bad idea. I'll give that a spin tomorrow.

Just a quick note for people wanting advice on mounting the mirrors :

This is what I ended up doing, tightened it with the mirror in the wrong position, and once the bolt tight, pushed the mirror to the correct position which tightened it more.

It worked fine for a while, but then went loose again. Redid the same technique with Red Loc-tite and now the thing would require the wrath of god himself to break free.
