Anybody's bike feel different after 1000 mile service??
Remembering that no question is a dumb question, has anyone else noticed any remarkable difference in their bike after 1000 mile service? Had 2010 service by local indy and got it back yesterday. First of all, he did everything the dealer was going to do, changed to synthetic like I asked, and charged so much less than I actually almost asked him what he forgot to charge me for? Anyway, on the way home, while downshifting, I noticed that between 2nd and first, I had to shift down more than once - there was nothing there. Not everytime but seemed more often than not, when I tried to downshift, I had to do it again. Happened again today in 3rd as well - only while downshifting. My husband says that maybe I am shifting too soon now? I guess that is possible!! I mean, I drive a truck all day and it seems that if I start missing gears in the morning, I keep it up all day long. Maybe just a bad couple days but it has never happened before this service.
Did they use SYN3 in the tranny?
Go with something a little heavier and see if it likes it better.

+1 on both these. I switched to SYN3 for the 1k at the dealership and it didn't run as good as when I first bought it and was loud and clunky. Since I spent an arm and a leg I waited till the 5k and switched to AMSOIL and everything was better then new.
I've just read about to much fluid making it do what you said also.
Mine did. It also immediately on pickup started making a whining sound on the rear wheel. After it got worse I took it back in and it turned out to be a bad rear wheel bearing. Not sure why it went bad between me dropping it off and picking it up, but the bike was different. Otherwise all has been good.
My clutch had way to much play. I took it back for and had that extra play removed. It feels great once again. They have quite a bit of leeway on those adjustments. I too am running Syn 3 and will probably switch to heavier oil as most are recommending. It shifts fine but as my last road king is very clunky sounding.
Not to upset anyone, but this is why it's best to get your bike's service manual & self-maintain. Then you know exactly what you're putting in & adjusting. Best $60 I ever spent on any HD part/accessory & you get to learn your ride in the process. Might want to try this for the next sched maint...
I plan on doing all my own service after the first 1000 ml service. This is just more reason why though. I will check tranny fluid level-if this rain ever ends. By the way, tranny fluid was changed to Amsoil. Thanks for the helop, boys.
