Hey anyone on here have a streched tank on their dyna? I have a big dent in my 04 fxd tank and I'm having a lot of trouble finding a replacement. Only thing I could really find that is reasonably priced is oem style stretched tanks. Anyone have any info on them?
Why find a replacement? It's metal. If you don't have the expertise to pop the dent, bring it to someone who does. I just did mine a few months ago when I painted it. Had a large dent on the left side. Brought it to a local autobody shop and the guy popped the dent, and primered the whole thing ready for paint for $100.
SC I have talked to local pdr guy and body shops they told me the metal was too thick to pop out. Are they just scared? You got yours primed did they drill and pull it out and then patch?

Yes, they are just scared. My local guy used this welding gun to stick some large rivets to the tank and then used a slide hammer to pop the dents out. He did tell me that you can't get it perfect and that he would be using some body filler to make it look good.
Yeah I thought that could be an option but I had a couple people tell me no for some reason. If my camera was up and running I'd post some pics but yeah can't right now. Thanks though I'll definitly check it out.
I see thanks SC-I saw a video on here about paintless dent repairon a tank but the end result was about $250 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Vzw7svXz_Q check it out very cool
Six, Im no body-man but those types of ads always make me think late night infomercial. I suppose if a dent is more of a ding you can probably pop it out with minimal damage but then again...car/bike paint on metal isn't usually mixed with anything allowing it to flex like it is when sprayed on plastic. I don't remember what it's called. I went to a local auto-body supply store right before I rattle-canned my bike looking for some color ideas. The guy behind the counter asked me if I was spraying plastic or metal just for that reason.
My tank damage that was fixed was harsh enough that paint came off during the accident. I dropped my bike and due to circumstances, I wasn't able to guide it down slowly. It slammed pretty hard. So, fixing the dent and painting was inevitable.
