I'm considering changing rear pulley, less work but a bit more in part cost, results should be the same. I just think removing the rear tire and replacing the pulley is easier than splitting the case apart, messing with fluids and dealing with gaskets. But, nothing wrong with that if you got the time and tools. I don't recall how many tooth is on the rear stock pulley, 70?? Who has a decent rear pulley, like maybe an 68 tooth?? Can still keep the original belt.

Depends on the bike. The 09 Dynas for sure are equipped 32/66.
I have a used 70 tooth that I put on mine and just recently took back off. It fit with the stock belt, because at the time I put it on, I also changed the front sprocket to a 30 tooth one. Geared the bike just a tad too low for me, so I wanted to put the 32 tooth sprocket back on, and 32/70 doesn't fit the stock length belt on current Fat Bobs at least........ best result for me was going to the 30 up front and retaining the stock 66 in the back...stock belt.

My 70 tooth is for sale, but like I said to fit without changing the belt on current Dynas, ya gotta go with the 30T up front . Gears it a little high at 80 mph..... but your Dyna will flat LEAP of the line with a 30/70 setup

Alls I want to do is split the difference, but at the rear. Would have to look if anyone makes a 68 tooth rear and keep the stock belt. 32/68 V 32/66 OEM.

Make sure of your ability to make a 2 tooth change and use the same belt, I couldn't on my 02 wideglide---jack

Dammmn, how'd you find that one out???? Would a dealer have that or need to order?? I wouldn't need the belt too, would I? I mean, what difference is it if you change the front pulley by 2 teeth V the rear by 2 teeth and keeping the OE belt? I would think more teeth than 2 would likely need a different belt.

Also, guess I could be totally screwed if the International Pulley has different Cog spacing on the belt, resulting in also having to change the front pulley, then why bother.. Guess for **** and giggles I'll call the stealer tomorrow. I also wonder if a 68 tooth Sporty pulley would work?

Point taken. Did you try more than a 2 tooth change, or is the belt different on the 02's? I believe there were more changes to the Dyna's in 05

No problems out of mine & I love it. Along with the HQ500 cams I have & the way I ride she's a rocket off the line. It's just doesn't help with the life of a back tire....lol 07 with 21,500 miles on her & I'm on my 4th rear tire already. Put it on about 1200 miles ago.

I've been told a Sportster 68T pulley will work but I haven't tried it yet.
