Does anybody have a picture of their stock air filter.I paid to have a stage 1 kit in my sb last year and i took the cover off today and it looks like the stock one. Should it be a different color than white?Or is the stage 1 just a different backing plate? Thanks
stage 1 could look like your original on i guess depending on manufacturer
but
I just put the stage 1 on my bike by arlen ness and its a small round filter
My buddy on his softail had his done at the dealer and it looks the same as mine ( smaller then stock and round )
the harley one that he has is not the washable one, it's the paper one.
When I did my Stage II upgrade, the original a/c assembly and filter were swapped out, but the original "football" cover was still used. The black plastic back to the a/c assembly was removed, a new backing plate was installed and a larger, "teardrop" shaped air filter was installed. The whole back side of the assembly was open on the a/c. The new filter was slightly larger than the old one, and definitely more open.
In the photo below, the one on the left was the original, the right one was the Stage I setup. I've since replaced with a round backing plate, filter and cover. The original would "breath" through the small opening on the front of the black plastic piece, the Stage I was completely open all around for better air flow.
Somehow I ended up with TWO of the original football covers.
im going to get a k&n tomorrow. im tired of looking at the football cover so im going to bolt a cd on. went to advance auto and bought some carbon fiber tape and covered it.
