Has anyone put a "cat squasher" on their new Wide Glide yet? I ride about six miles of gravel every day and it rains a fair bit here so I'm going to swap out the front "pizza cutter" for some more meat. I did a photoshop chop, the bike only has about 400 miles on it but I want to be the first one around here to fatten up my front end. Any advice would be awesome. Thanks guys!
I ran a 110 x 19 for quite a few years on mine, just recently went back to the 21". Don't think I would want anything wider though.
Not sure what wheels are out there that would bolt right up for you, haven't done the research lately.
I had to also buy an adapter kit with a thick spacer to make up the difference.
Is the CrossBones a wide front end?
Axle size, width, bearings all have to be considered.
Hey, thanks for the quick reply, the Cross Bones is pretty wide but it's a springer, I may have to use my existing hub and just relace that Cross Bones rim, not sure if it will work, gotta' do some more research before I buy parts that don't fit (to add to the pile) Just out of curiosity, how come you went back to the 21 and is the ride much different compared to the 19. Cheers man, bike looks great!
The fender I wanted on the front end just would not work with the wider tire, and I have always liked the look of the narrow tire. I went to the 110 for handling the curves, but have since found I do just as well with a GOOD 21 like the Metzeler ME880 I have, doesn't follow lines in the road like the Dunlop.
Yeah, that's what my buddies say too! I rode a Fat Bob, liked it fine but wanted the rake on the new Wide Glide, also not nuts about that dual front headlight and never been a big fan of the bobtail fender but I liked the beefy look and the dual front rotors. It was a tough choice and I almost bought a Street Bob or a Super Glide Custom. I finally decided that I really liked the California Kid flame job on the Wide Glide, so I figured in the end it would be easier, cheaper, and cooler to make my own version. When Harley makes it they will call it a Fat Glide...Or a Wide Bones! Cheers
