Default Avon front tire

I like my Night Dragons, but I was thinking of getting a Venom 110/90-19 which the Night Dragon does not come in, plus Avon has a $25 rebate per tire until the 31st, too bad they don't make a 17" to fit our stock rear wheel because I would like to match.
To those who have the the Avon Venom front tire how is it working out? Does it really stick good in the corner and what are you mixing with it on the rear? I don't really need a front tire right now, but I figured I would buy the front, then use the $25 gift card to help pay for a New rear Night Dragon that I am going to need sooner than later and I then have a front tire when the time comes.

I run Avon's front and rear. The venom's are great handling tires. They stick like glue.

What bike do you have them on? I have to wonder why in the heck don't they make a 160-170-180 17 for the rear?

Thanks for input!

Looks to me like the front is bias ply and the rear is a radial.

1) I'm probably wrong,

2) Can you put a radial on a spoked wheel? This may not apply here, just a general question.

3) Is it a good idea (supposing I'm right about the bias ply and radial) to mix the two types??

Thanks, but I like to try to match front and rear, Venom with a Venom, etc. Besides, the Storm is not part of the rebate either. Not to mention, I don't like to mix radials with biased or put radials on tubes/spokes, but that is just me. (Please lets not make this about mixing radial and tubes)
I could live with the a front Venom and a rear Pirelli, especially if the front is as good or better as the Pirelli front.

Cool

I run the Avon Venoms and rear. I switched from the Dunflop K591 and have never looked back. I love the way those Venoms stick in the curves.

I was thinking of going the other way. Tell what you think of the Night Dragons. Those are Pirelli right? How do they handle? Do they wear quick?

I don't see a Venom that would replace the stock rear k591?

The Dragons are great and stick gooood! A good grip tire just does not give you high mileage. I replaced it at 18K and I am probably looking at getting 5,500 out of it, but I have been pretty hard on it. No burn outs, but when the front tire sticks and you can come out of a corner hard on a heavy bike, it wears the rear tire! I only got 7K out of my 2nd rear K591 and the Dragon is a bit stickier so there is the trade off of the wider look and better handling. The front Dragon is wearing faster than the garbage D401 and no surprise as the D401 sticks like grease. Replacing it, in my opinion, was the first thing I should have done.
The look of the 180 is cool, but there is no way in hell you can use the tread. I scrape around corners and I still have chicken strips.
I may even go back to the K591 on the rear. The K591 is actually a good tire, but when H-D paired it to the D401 the handling went away, so the K591 would probably work good with the Avon on the front.
I don't like to change what works, but I kind of like the fatter front Avon, it looks wicked and also looks like it would stick real good, plus I get a rebate I can apply towards a rear.

For pities sake, those are what AVON recommends for your bike! They are tyre designers and makers. They are experts! They are all I personally will fit to my Harleys (and Buell).

If you have questions, I gave you a link to their website. Email them to answer any concerns you have, they are usually very quick replying.

If you are only after Avons because of their rebate I can't comment further. I buy them because they make excellent tyres. My wife and I have just got back from a 2,500 mile trip to Poland and back on a pair, riding in all weathers.

Are you running a mix and on spokes, from your pic it does not look like it?

Yes, I want to take advantage of the rebate because I am short on funds and that is why I wanted to get more feed back on the tire because I also want a great handling tire and do not like to change what works for an unknown when I have limited funds, but would not mind saving a few bucks on a safe good handling tire. I also said I did not want to make this about mixing so lets not be pissy about my personal preference.
I went ahead and sent Avon a message and I'll bet you that they say to refer to the motorcycle manufacturers recommendations, just like Dunlop, Metzeler and Pirelli have, so that leaves me where?
I do appreciate your input.
