Bought my 07 FXDB used from a dealer who got it through HD Finance as a repo or something, so no history. Noticed that when I turn the ignition to on I get a red key shaped icon on the speedo, around the 5 o'clock position.
I don't have security since I don't have any fobs, but it's the same icon on my Electra Glide which does have security. So what does this signify?
does the light go out?
does the bike have security and maybe you just don't have the fobs?
take the seat off and see if you have the antenna.
you could also pull out the turn signal module and see if it has 2 plugs on it.
one large one and one small one is for security.
no security has one plug.
I have a '07 StreetBob and it comes with the security standard. I think it just may be in "valet" mode and turned off. I bought a car like that once, no fob or anything. I changed the battery a year later and an alarm horn started blaring. No matter what I did I couldn't figure out how to turn it off. I took apart the dash and found a box, called the manufacturer and they explained to me how to disable it again. I wouldn't pull the battery until you get it to a dealer to see if they can research the #s for a fob replacement.
Yeah, it goes off. Comes on when I turn the ignition on, goes off when I start it. I've pulled the battery cables several times with no issues. I've had the seat off numerous times and never noticed anything - even added the HD remote garage door opener and put it under the seat, but I don't know that I'd recognize the antenna.
Thanks
sounds like you dont have security... mine comes on untill i start it also, and i dont have secruity. if im not mistaken, this is signifying that the computer is running the start up tests. if it goes out and stays out your good. but if it goes and out and comes back on, then you have a DTC (diagnostic trouble code)...
maybe someone can confirm this... i know one of the dash lights will do this if there is a trouble code and i think its the red key light...
it also shows if you have a light (turn sig) out it will come on, on my scoot i have all LED turns and like the hyper flash so mine pops on when i hit a turn sig, it shows a current flow issue.
