the under fender buzz may be coming from the metal guide piece for the rear signal wires. You can put some tape on the ends where it contacts the fender to stop that. I used a couple small pieces of gorilla tape on the fender where the contact was made. Shut it right up.
good thread - perfect timing. i tried out my new 1/2 helmet this morning and noticed a ticking sound from the back - changed along with the speed, sort of like a small wire was going through the spokes.... anyway, i agree - scoot sounds different with a 1/2 than it does with a full
and on that note i think i'm going to throw my 1/2 right in the garbage - per the mfg it fits like it should (snug enough to move my scalp rather than slide around) but as soon as I hit 45 or so it promptly flopped back on my head ... only remedy I can see is ratcheting the chin strap down enough to crush my esophagus. I think i'll remain a full face helmet wearer, I can hear the pipes / no wind noise ... and dot 1/2's look dorky so might as well keep the skin on my face if i go down since i'll look like a goon with either helmet on
I've found a "dew-rag" or a bandana tied like a head band helps with this problem on my dresser, on the sporty with no windshield, only way is to ratchet her down.
I usually wear a full face helmet, but sometimes wear a 1/2 helmet. I usually have the windshield on, but sometimes ride without it. There are 4 combo's with that (FF with / without windshield, 1/2 helmet with / without windshield) the bikes sounds different with each of those. The biggest thing I notice with the half helmet is the heat shields pinging while they heat up.
I was thinking the same thing. The one thing that make noise is the sissy bar (rigid mount). When I take it off I hear a different set of noises.
Since we're playing name that sound, I have a new one. I've been hearing a chirp/squeak coming from somewhere up front. Happens mostly over small bumps in the road but will occasionally happen on smooth road.
Oh and far as the bike being noisy... my bike sounds real loud out of the top end.
