After avoiding it for two years, I finally got a two-up setup so my wife can ride with me every now and then. I didn't want a sissy bar and she said I had to have a backrest so I went with the Haulen *** backrest in black with the larger pad.
I placed the order on Sunday the sixth and the slip in my PO Box said it was delivered on the 12th and that was shipping to an APO box in England.
This kit was so complete that they even included an HD seat stud still in the sealed bag. It is very easy to install, you lay the rubber gasket down first to protect your fender and then install the bracket using the solo seat mounting stud first. The just install your seat and bolt it to the two-up seat stud. Lastly, install the backrest pad and your finished. The best part is that when it's removed everything is off the bike. No extra hardware like a detachable sissy bar.
The other parts I used to set it up for two is a wide glide seat, wrinkle black peg mounts, and HD Edge Cut pegs. I also replaced my front pegs, shifter peg, and brake pedal pad so that it all matches.
I just got one of those as well. It's about the best looking backrest option available, IMO, and my girlfriend was thrilled. Expensive, but worth it.
Agreed, took it out tonight with my wife and she loved. She says it's just enough to make her feel secure on the bike. I'm happy with it and the best part was when we got home I stripped it back down and put my solo seat back on in 5 minutes. No scratches or marks on the fender. The only hint that I can ride two-up is the passenger pegs.
I really like the clean looks of that set-up. I almost went with it, but wanted a means to carry my barrel bag and what-not when riding solo, (I hate the passenger seat when riding solo) so I mounted a sissy bar. I also wanted the sissy for riding 2-up with my luggage strapped to the back.
