Taddeoeg, it is awesome to hear of somewhere from the area. My daughter is a high school grad from Chatham and my son a 7th grader. I moved here 10 years ago from the other side of the world - Phoenix, Az.- and LOVE the close knit, backwards community of Columbia County.
Sounds like your family lives next door to where I work. NYS DOT next to parkway entrance on Rt 203. You ever come up for a visit PM me and we'll take you on a tour of where you should and shouldn't ride now.
Seems you did the right thing and moved to somewhere you can ride more than a few months out of the year and I did the opposite.
