Hey guys and/or gals. I found a broken exhaust clamp on my 09 FXD. Dealer says it'll be covered under warranty, but they don't stock the part. It's gonna take them over a week to get the clamp. So, the bikes in the shop, and I need to know the diameter of the head pipe so I can start hunting down a clamp myself. Head pipe diameter - anyone? Thanks!
What clamp is on the head pipe. Do you mean the clamp that holds the slip on muffler to the head pipe. Or are you referring to the worm gear hose clamps that hold the heat shield to the pipe?
Hey Longhair, man, thank you so much! Yes, the clamp I need attaches to the bracket shown in your photo, either the parts manual or my head is all effed up.
My parts manual shows the 2 piece clamp attaching to a bracket for Australian/England models. The clamp shown for the US spec. bracket is shown as a 1 piece full circle band clamp.

You could probably run your bike without that clamp without worry. Your exhaust bracket that holds the mufflers together is also bolted to the transmission. Your exhaust isn't going anywhere.

You know I wasn't sure, but you make a good point. I'm kind of surprised it even broke in the first place. The upper side at the elongated bolt hole is where it snapped in half.

Thank you bro, SC-Longhair offered also. I'm going to check the local shops to see if they have one laying around from a take-off job.
