Default 2009 FXDB Lighting Problems

OK, so, I'm new to owning a HD, but it's great so far, with one caveat: I can't find any cool lights! The one set that I want for my taillight and turn signal setup is the Kuryakyn Panacea set, but it specifically says on their website that it will fit all Dynas but mine!

I'm good at wiring and such (I've been doing electrical work for cagers and riders for almost 15 years now), but fabrication and mods are definitely not my forte. Can someone tell me what might be necessary to get the cool lights on my bike?

My biggest problem is that I've got bags, so I'm using a turn signal relocation kit (both the kit and bags are from Saddlemen), and I just want to put the turn signals on the plate bracket. There's nothing out there that works without getting new lights that I can find, and the Kuryakyn kit is the one I'd rather have anyways. Someone please tell me what to do, as I'm losing my mind!

Default Bump

Just bumping this one to see if anyone can help. I've looked all over the forum, but nobody has got anything specific that I've read, it's just either keep what I've got or pull the taillight completely and go without. Anyone got any ideas?

Can you put a link to the part? The '09's are wired just a bit differently than the 06-08's I think in '09 they went to LED turn signals and tail light, correct me if I'm wrong. I know my '09 tail light is LED, but I don't have the turn signals, I just hard wired them into the harness.

there isn't much out there because of the taillight on the 09+ street bobs - but I haven't looked much (beyond wanting to upgrade the bulbs to BAL - also not available) ... personally I targeted an 09 because I love the taillight that came on it -and the silver case with vivid black goes better with chrome

good luck though, a few folks have posted threads about removing the light and filling the huge hole - and I believe there is some sort of 'tombstone' light that may also fit over that hole

Okay, sounds weird, but here's an answer I got from a mechanic friend of mine at another dealership: they'll burn out if the alarm goes off, even with a load equalizer. I'm not really sure what to make of that. I've spent a lot more time doing wiring than this guy (he's really old-school, works only with pre-70's scoots), and most of the stuff I've done has got EFI. I figured if it was a voltage problem, I'd just build another equalizer or a damper in-line witht he lighting because of the alarm problem, but I've still got the mounting problem to deal with.

As per an e-mail I got back from Kuryakyn, they're working on a solution for the '09 FXDB, but it's been a long time coming, so I'm not expecting anything anytime soon. If anyone's got any ideas, it's much appreciated. Otherwise, I'm either just gonna paint the light to match the bike (black demin), or pull it and relocae the plate behind the bags. There's a controller from HD that works with the '09 that turns the turn signals into turn-run-brake lights, that'll work with the alarm (nobody else's will work due to voltage differences, and I'm not good with micro work, just small stuff). I've seen good stuff that one guy did when he pulled his light.

To be honest, I don't know what direction to go. Any ideas would be appreciated.
