hi i have a 2003 lowrider and want to sell the tanks and fenders, buying a used set to replace them beforehand. i figure i can make some money back on the custom paint job they have, as i want to spray the used ones satin black and use them anyway.
im looking for a replacement tank but can it be any dyna tank, or does it have to be from a certain model to fit my bike. I know the lowrider has different gauges and tank strip but does this affect the actual tank im looking for.
It's best to get the same tank, the newer one's are FI and are made with large holes for the fuel pumps. some of the older ones will work but you may not be able to use your dash panel.
How determined are you? I am in the process of fitting a 2009 tank to my 1990 Glide. So far it is not proving difficult. An EFI tank can be converted to carb using a Pingel adapter kit and fuel valve.
Check out this thread. I didn't get much info on tanks earlier than '04. This question gets asked alot. I think it would be useful to many owners to have a complete list and make it a sticky. https://www.hdforums.com/forum/dyna-...treet-bob.html
The low rider tank from 96-03 is becoming the holy graille of hd tanks, look on ebay and they go for quite a bit esp in good condition. The bracket that holds the speedo and tach to the dash is now "obsolete" and very difficult to find. I think you can have anytanks form those years will bolt up it's just getting all the parts to make the conversion. I went from super glide tank to lr. If you go with sg then you will have to find where you will mount your tach and speedo then get the sg gas guage. The wg has the bigger speedo and no tach. I have heard someone makes an adapter to fit the smaller lr speedo in the wg dash.
well i was only thinkin of makin a little cash on sellin the paintjob i have, as im sure someone else would enjoy it more than me, but if its this much hassle then i quit. im just gona paint my own tins. ive just bought a softail rear fender but thats another story

id like to know more about how you did it. im in the process of doing one with a 09 fxdl tank
