Never liked the security system. Every time you move the bike the lights flash. Yeah, that will scare a would be thief. Always have to have your key fob. Key in the frame, also a pain, falls out if you don't turn it slightly back to hold it in. Switch on the tank dash is much better. Don't even need a key unless you lock it. Of course I will be changing my mind about the security system if the bike gets stolen.

Any chance somebody could scan this card and post it on the forum? I bought my bike used with no owner's manual. The service manual has the instructions but not the "pocket card."
Thanks in advance.

Check with a local H-D dealer. They should be able to hook you up with one.

You guys would love the security system mine came with. Not only does it have the flashing lights but a piercing siren and a chirp that goes off when the system is activated and deactivated. It's pretty goofy.

I've got an 07 FXDL and never gave a thought about it being banged up or damaged.
It's just so convenient to keep both together. I just had the siren system added and got to hear it for the first time yesterday. Left the key and fob in my helmet sitting on a bench about 20 feet from the bike. The mechanic needed to adjust my new engine guard mounted highway pegs and asked me to get on the bike. As soon as I turned the tire and lifted the bike up...... off it went. He got the fob and it finally stopped shreaking when the fob was 1 foot away from my windshield.

Anyway, I've been riding with the key and fob together on a rubber tether since day 1....but I'll inspect them and maybe put some tape around it. I just dont want to fuss with having to remember a separate fob......or take a chance losing it all together

Below is what's on the cards included with the owners manual, and sections of the Owners Manual relating to the security system.

Instructions for entering a PIN to disarm the Smart Security System

DO NOT TURN HANDLEBARS, STRADDLE SEAT OR LIFT MOTORCYCLE OFF THE JIFFY STAND DURING A PIN DISARM

1. Turn IGN key to IGNITION and immediately hold BOTH turn switches until 5 dashes appear in the odometer window.
2. Enter the first digit of your code by presing LEFT turn switch ( 1-9) times.
3. Press RIGHT turn switch 1 TIME
4. Enter the second digit of your code by pressing LEFT turn switch (1-9) times
5. Press RIGHT turn switch 1 TIME
6. Enter third digit of your code by pressing LEFT turn switch (1-9) times
7. Press RIGHT turn switch 1 TIME
8. Enter fourth digit of your code by pressing LEFT turn switch (1-9) times
9. Press RIGHT turn switch 1 TIME
10. Enter fifth digit of your code by pressing LEFT turn switch (1-9) times
11. Press RIGHT turn switch 1 TIME
THE KEY ICON STOPS BLINKING

OPERATION:
To ARM the System:
Park the motorcycle and turn the IGN key to OFF. Within 5 seconds the system responds with TWO turn sighal flashes and TWO chirps From the OPTIONAL siren.

To DISARM the System:
With the assigned FOB present, the system auromatically disarms when the IGN key is turned to ON. The KEY ICON will illuminate for 4 SECONDS then turn off and the OPTIONAL SIREN will CHIRP ONCE.

TRANSPORT MODE:
To ARM the System:
1. Turn the IGN key to ON and set OFF/RUN switch to OFF
2. Turn IGN key to ACC.
3. Press BOTH turn switches. Turn signals will flash ONCE.
4. Turn IGN to OFF. The system responds with 3 turn signal flashes.

To Disarm System:
1. With FOB present, turn IGN to ON
2. Set OFF/RUN switch to RUN to exit transport mode.

CHANGING the 5 digit PIN CODE:
1. Select a NEW 5 digit (1-9) PIN and record and save it.
2. With an assigned FOB(s) present......turn the IGN key as follows:
IGNITION-OFF-IGNITION-OFF-IGNITION
3. Press LEFT turn signal switch 3 TIMES
4. Press RIGHT turn signal switch 1 TIME AND RELEASE
The turn signals will flash 3 times.
Current PIN will appear in the odometer and the first digit will be flashing.
Follow the instructions listed above (starting with #2 thru #11) to enter each digit of your NEW PIN. After you enter the fifth and last digit, IMMEDIATELY turn the ignition switch to OFF to store the NEW PIN numbers into the module.

A KEY ICON THAT REMAINS ILLUMINATED LONGER THAT 4 SECONDS INDICATES THAT SERVICE OF THE MODULE IS REQUIRED.

DO NOT RIDE WITH THE FOB IN A METAL CASE OR CLOSER THAN 3" A TO A CELL PHONE, PDA, GPS, DISPLAY OR OTHER ELECTRONIC DEVICE. ANY ELECTROMAGNETIC INTERFERENCE MAY PREVENT THE FOB FROM DISARMING THE SYSTEM.

Hope it helps.

The previous owner must have had the system disabled on my '04 Wide Glide. I see the key icon come on occasionally, but I rarely, if ever, carry the key or the fob.

Yours isn't necessarily disabled, the 07s are the first year to have a passive system. 06 and earlier you have to arm the system yourself by pushing the button on the fob. The newer system "recognizes" the fob and arms/disarms itself, no more button pushing.

I keep my key and fob together in my pocket. I rarely, if ever, lock the forks (EGC). I love the security system, it means I can just turn my switch to "off" and go about my business.

I always kept the Key FOB in my vest in a ziplock bag with an extra CR2032 new battery. When the FOB battery dies you are not starting the bike without doing a lot of screwing around.

Spiritwarrior......
I replaced my FOB batteries for the first time over the winter. This is our 4th riding season and the dealer suggested it was time for a swap out.

I also have the Pager unit, and from what I heard, they eat batteries when activated, so I went online, found and bought LIR 2450 rechargable button cell batteries along with a charger.
They do make rechargables & a charger for the FOB batteries... Instead of CR2032, they're listed as LIR 2032.
here's a link to check things out. They say 1 rechargable will take the place of buying 200 normal ones.
