Default Wide Glide cornering issues

I have a 2007 wide glide,Stage 1 mods other than that, stock. Stock Dunlop rear and front. 8900 miles. Ive been riding 35 years. About 50% of the time while cornering, I feel like the rear tire scoots out a little for a second. I cant seem to find any looseness or play in the rear and Im a little stumped. Any suggestions?

It's more than likely the tires. I hated the stock Dunlops on my '04 WG.

Check air pressure, shock pre-load, and tighten the spokes for starters.
Other than that as Mk1 said, better tires make a world of difference.

I had the same issue and installed the True-Track. Changed the handling completely for the better.

http://www.true-track.com/

A generous sponsor of the forum.

It's possibly the tires, or all the other things mentioined in this forum, if it 'alwys' seems that the rear is ready to skid. But in some instances this could be a problem caused by the lack of proper engine bracing in the Dyna series. "Could be" because there are many discussions about the True-Track (the search function can be your friend) and some controversy over many aspects of its and user's claims.

I had a really bad wobble on two long sweeping curves I travel on, even at the suggested posted speed and below, and it scared me. Then I had one on a curve I'd never been on before, and when I added saddlebags crosswinds grabbing those and the solid wheels on the Fat Bob seemed to trigger a similar instability. I tried the True-Track and every aspect of handling improved, putting the Fat Bob closer to the handling of the best bike I've ever had for handling, a '74 BMW R90. I have since been far more confident riding the Fat Bob a bit more aggressively. I've never encountered the wobble again, and it helped with the crosswind instability quite a bit. And it's just "true" on the straightway and the curve.

My stock rear started slipping in corners just a little around 9k. I have over 12k on my SE 180 and while it doesnt handle as well as new it doesnt slip like the stock tire did at high miles.
