Default 99 superglide exhaust problem

for anyone with aftermarket exhaust..

I just bought new exhaust for my 99 dyna.. i just tried putting it on.. seems the back went on Ok.. the front on the other hand.. the pipe is basically pushing on the rear master cylinder linkage. If i losen the bolt holding the pipe to the bracket connected to the transmission, i can manuever the pipe so i get about a quarter inch clearance from the linkage. Problem is when i tighten the bolt on the bracket.. it forces the pipe back on to the linkage.

I was thinking i could take the old exhausts bracket (the one that is on the pipe. it's not welded on), put it on the pipe under the heat shield on the new exhaust and bolt that back on the old exhausts bracket that is still bolted to the bike.

Not sure if i make sense here but PLEASE HELP

oh yeah. i was hoping that by putting the old exhausts front pipe bracket on the new pipe, it would push the exhaust out and give me clearence when everything is tight

Pictures of the problem would be most helpful. If I'm following, my first thoughts are either bending the bracket or shimming it out.
