harley uses torx PLUS bits.(google it) everyone has a problem with the torx. most of us just change them out when we can. i took a look further and bought a set of torx PLUS bits and the problems go away. i understand that gm uses them also. would be nice if they told you. good luck.

makes a huge difference. i almost like torx now. for a while i could not understand why they were ever used. when you get a bit that fits correctly you can torque just as well or better than an allen. trying to use a conventional torx in a torx plus bolt is usually going to be a problem. just another harley thorn in our side. its kind of like when they put one of those security bits in, just a pain in the ***. dont stop you, just slows you down.

Always had trouble till I used an impact wrench. Popped right out. However on the last one the torx bit came off the screw after it was loose and since I was pushing on the impact wrench it came in and nicked the primary case. First mark on the bike. Live and learn.
