Default Torque specs for FXDF exhaust bolts

I'm wondering how many people use their torque wrench when they change exhaust. I've got one and if anyone has the specs for exhaust bolts let me know! Might as well get it right on.

Thanks,
CS

45-60 ft lbs for the slip on mufflers clamps. Don't reuse old clamps as they stretch and can not be properly torqued to hold.

First and foremost, I'll say the obvious....Get a service manual. There is a "process" in tightening the exhaust system. Here is a picture of a portion of the procedure in my 2010 FDXF manual.

I have never employed any specs on exhaust. For me, it's always been Guttentight. Have never had a problem or need to recheck.

I did mine to 12-13 NM for the flange bolts assuming you're putting an exhaust system on... The range is like 11.6-13 NM or something like that. It's not that tight

The book has the range in inch pounds and newton meters... i remember using the NM because my wrench had it, thats the only reason im quoting the metric...

Just like EricInNCa posted 100-120 INCH lbs. (8-10fb lbs)

Recheck them after a few heat cycles.

Thanks for all the help on this.. Of course I screwed it up.

While installing the new pipes, specifically tightening the nut back onto the exhaust stud at the rear cylinder the nut got stuck to the stud and the stud began turning with it wouldnt come loose. The the lower rear stud came right out so I replaced it with a bolt, and not a full threaded one. The upper rear bolt also got stuck and I think the stud ended up further into the head than it is supposed to be. I'm tempted to take it in to the dealer and have them re-install the studs as I don't like messing around with anything going into the headers myself. I'm just not that comfortable and haven't worked on a bike before. Followed the svc manual and everything darn it. Any suggestions for a quicker fix? Start over?

I'm just guessing here but I wouldn't think you would be able to screw the bolt too far into the head. Maybe stip it or break it but not screw in too far. I'd clean those bolts up good put some anti-seize on them and start over.
